Straight forward information about how to get a residence permit in Turkey is hard to find. Most of the people I’ve spoken to rely on word of mouth advice and possibly trawling through the forums trying to decipher the various conflicting accounts.
Provided you make an appointment beforehand and take all the correct documents with you on the day, there is no reason for this process to be too stressful.
It really helps if you can speak Turkish so consider taking a Turkish friend with you if possible.
**There are new rules regarding tourist visas which mean you will only be able to stay for a maximum if 90 days within any 180 day period (you cannot leave and come back again immediately anymore) so please check the updates at the bottom of this post.
