I’ve been living in Istanbul for about 4 years now and while my Turkish isn’t wonderful, I can understand the vast majority of what is being said.
I tend to miss the small (important!) details, but I can follow the gist of the conversation.
So I can safely say that I’ve made vast improvements over those 4 years…….but I have to admit I haven’t been trying very hard for most of that time.
